Two months after a teenage boy with autism walked out of his queens school and vanished, his mother is still working to find him. For the first time in more than a month, his mother is speaking out about his disappearance and on the latest steps to bring him home.
It’s been over 2 months and Avonte is still missing. The search still continues, although I’m noticing that media coverage has dwindled.
What blows my mind is that the family has moved their search headquarters from out in front of the Riverview school where the boy went missing to an indoor space in Astoria. The family says they’re paying for the space, but that the owner of the building gave them a break on rent, allowing a month to month lease.
Are you F#@%’n KIDDIN’ ME??? First off, the family shouldn’t have to pay a dime to have an established headquarters, the New York City school board should be paying that. And secondly, why the hell should they move headquarters??? If anything they should have a permanent spot inside the school that was responsible for his care and resulting disappearance.
Where are the responsible, or shall I say irresponsible, people in all this??
Please look around my fellow New Yorkers, and everyone else within the tri state area, and be aware of the people around you, Avonte might just be sitting, standing or walking right next to you. Remember it’s been a couple of months, his hair has, of course, grown.
